Privacy policy
Effective 19 September 2026. This policy covers this website and the Holler app, both made by Terminus City Technology ("we").
The short version: we do not track you, we do not sell or share data for advertising, and our apps work without an account. The only data that leaves your device is anonymous usage and crash information, described below.
This website
terminuscitytechnology.com is a static site. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (IP address, request time, page requested) for security and operations, which we do not use to identify visitors.
If you email us, we keep the message so we can reply and, if it is a support request, so we can follow up. We do not add you to any list.
Holler
No account
Holler has no sign-up and no sign-in. We do not know who you are, and we do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, location, or photos.
Your voice
Holler uses the microphone only while you are holding the Talk button or after you start a holler hands-free, until you tap to stop. The audio is sent from your phone to the speaker you chose over your own local network. It is not sent to us or to anyone else, and it is not kept on the phone after the holler ends. Where a speaker needs a file rather than a live stream, Holler writes a temporary file, plays it, and deletes it.
Your network and speakers
Holler asks for the Local Network permission so it can find speakers on your Wi-Fi. Speaker names and addresses stay on the phone. Holler remembers a short list of the speakers you have chosen recently, by identifier, so it can preselect the right one next time. That list never leaves the device.
Sonos account (optional)
If you choose to connect a Sonos account, you sign in on Sonos's own website and Sonos gives Holler a token that it stores in the iOS Keychain on your phone. Holler uses that token to ask Sonos to lower and resume playback around a holler. We never see your Sonos password, and the token is not sent to us. Sonos's own privacy policy governs what Sonos collects. You can disconnect the account at any time from the speaker list, which deletes the token.
Anonymous usage events
Holler sends a small set of product events so we can tell whether the app works: does it find speakers, do people get from opening the app to a first holler, and what fails. Events are tied to an install identifier, a random value generated on the phone the first time Holler runs. It is not your Apple ID, not the advertising identifier, and cannot be linked to you by us. Deleting the app deletes it. The events are:
| Event | What it carries |
|---|---|
| App launched | App build number and iOS version. |
| Discovery completed | How many speakers were found, a coarse time bucket, and whether the Local Network permission was denied. |
| Speaker selected | Whether it was preselected or chosen from the list. Not the speaker's name. |
| Holler sent | Which kind of speaker connection was used, a coarse duration bucket, and whether it played or failed. |
| Holler failed | A category: microphone, network, speaker, or other. |
| Account connected or disconnected | Nothing else. |
| Trace | Only when a holler or discovery fails: the last few technical steps the app took, with status codes and counts. No audio, no speaker names, no network addresses. |
Events are batched on the phone and sent to PostHog, an analytics service, on servers in the European Union. Only App Store builds send them.
Crash reports
If Holler crashes, iOS's MetricKit gives the app a diagnostic report on the next launch. Holler forwards it to the same analytics service, tied to the same anonymous install identifier. It contains the crash location in our code and device and OS details, not your data.
What we never do
- We do not track you across other apps or websites, and Holler's privacy manifest declares no tracking.
- We do not show ads or use advertising identifiers.
- We do not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties for their own purposes.
- We do not collect your voice, your speaker names, or your network details.
Retention
Anonymous usage events and crash reports are kept for as long as they are useful for finding and fixing problems, and are deleted or aggregated after that. Support email is kept while the conversation is open and for a reasonable time afterwards.
Children
Our products are for general audiences and are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, children included.
Your choices
- Deny the Microphone or Local Network permission in iOS Settings; Holler will explain what it needs and why.
- Disconnect a Sonos account from the speaker list at any time.
- Delete the app to remove the install identifier and everything Holler stored on the phone.
- Email us to ask what we hold about a support conversation or to have it deleted.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published here with a new effective date. Material changes that affect an app are also noted in that app's release notes.
